Current projects:

IN-HABIT: from 2020 to 2025, the Kalnciema Quarter team is implementing the IN-HABITproject of the EU program "Horizon 2020" in the Āgenskalns market, which aims to promote inclusive health and well-being in the neighborhood through the market as its center. Four directions are being developed in this project: co-creation kitchen RE CEP TE ("open" kitchen in the Āgenskalns market, where master classes and workshops on healthy nutrition and sustainability is taking place), improvement of the market area including accesibility and adaptation to different target audiences, waste reduction and e-commerce solutions.

FOODCITYBOOST: from 1 of January 2024 - 31 of December, 2027. Project title: Integrated assessment of urban farming impacts and policies for boosting sustainable urban agricultural development linking urban, peri-urban and rural areas. Program: HORIZON-CL6-2023-COMMUNITIES-01-5.

From 2015.10. to 2019.10. Kalnciema Quarter was a partner in the SUSPLACE project about sustainable place shaping, supported by Horizon 2020 (Marie Curie Actions). http://www.sustainableplaceshaping.net/

From 2015.11. to 2018.11. Partner in the Knowledge Alliance URBAN CHALLENGES project. ERASMUS + project in cooperation with the Copenhagen Business School - organizing summer schools.

SUPURBFOOD (2012-2015) project aim was to improve the sustainability of agriculture and food delivery in city-regions in Europe as well as in the global South by developing together with SMEs innovative approaches and shortening food chains (Kalnciema Quarter Food market in cooperation with the Baltic Studies Center).

In 2014, the Kalnciema Quarter Market became a member of the Slow Food Association and the largest such market in the Baltics.

Kalnciema Quarter
represents Latvia in the matters of preservation and renovation of the wooden
architecture heritage – our specialists participate in the public events,
international research and development projects, welcome European royalties and
government officials, international delegations and visitors.
 

Kalnciema Quarter was
the only delegate of the Baltic states in the European Heritage Days, 2011, in Wrocław, Poland. We shared our experience 
in the
UK-Nordic-Baltic Summit (Northern Future Forum) of 2011 in
London, hosted by the prime minister of the United Kingdom. In 2013, Kalnciema
Quarter was the venue of an informal welcoming dinner given to the prime
ministers of Nordic countries, Baltic states and the United Kingdom.
