Christmas market on December 22

On December 22 from 10 AM to 4 PM Kalnciema Quarter Christmas market will delight with unique gifts from Latvian designers and craftsmen that you won't find on the shelves of supermarkets. And don't forget to try out some traditional Latvian food from local farmers – from freshly baked bread with fruits to natural syrups, candied berries from Latvian woods, farm cheeses, warm soups with biologically produced meat and other goodies.

From 1 to 4 PM there will be a music concert and creative workshop for children where they will be able to learn music theory in interactive game.

You are also invited to visit Christmas pop-up market in Kalnciema Quarter gallery. During December each week there will be a different pop-up market that will gather local designers and craftsmen with their presents. Pop-up market will work from Monday to Sunday.

The farm produce, arts and crafts market is a long-standing tradition at Kalnciema Quarter, offering the citizens and visitors of Riga exquisite local products made by farmers, artisans and designers – the goods not to be found on the shelves of supermarkets. The locals particularly enjoy the friendly, intimate atmosphere of the market.

During December a large program for families with children is also planned - several book presentation events, concerts and various creative workshops suitable for holidays. A special program is provided for each Saturday and Sunday of December. Participation in all events is free of charge.

Kalnciema Quarter markets take place for almost 10 years in the yard of the restored 19th century wooden buildings, where farmers and craftsmen from all over Latvia meet in the same place. Visitors of Riga have an opportunity to get to know local culture at Kalnciema Quarter and find unique pottery from Latgale, traditional rye-bread made according to ancient Latvian recipes, valuable linen and wool products, modern Latvian design works, unusual gifts for loved ones or simply enjoy a great, freshly squeezed apple juice.
