From August 29th to September 14th the artist collective M.A.A.K. exhibition "Wonderful."

From August 29th to September 14th, the Kalnciema Quarter Gallery will host an exhibition by the artist collective M.A.A.K. titled "Wonderful."

The artists themselves describe what can be seen in the exhibition:

"‘A mysterious creature observed in Poland,’ ‘Concerned residents in Kenya,’ ‘Badger show in Liepāja,’ ‘Is it a hedgehog or a hat pom-pom?’ Inspired by various real news stories where the absurdly strange is reported with utmost seriousness, the unique collective M.A.A.K. has created works about life, which can be WONDERFUL – silly, grotesque, funny, and very beautiful. In their works, M.A.A.K. reflects the paradox of collective perception, where the absurd intertwines with the tragic and the comic. This phenomenon manifests when a situation observed by a random individual becomes the reality and event/sensation for a certain group of people, to which they react. People, without questioning the information provided, respond with genuine empathy, fear, and excitement.”

The unique collective M.A.A.K. consists of Mailo Mēness, Arta Volbeta, Alise Rudēvica, and Karīna Volbeta.

Visitors are invited to the exhibition opening on August 29th at 7:00 PM. After that, the exhibition will be open every weekday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; the gallery is closed on Sundays. Admission is free.
