SUMMER OUTSIDE. SUMMER TOGETHER is in full swing! On July 11, we invite you to spend the evening with guitarist Edgars Rubenis and poet Marija Luīze Meļķe, followed by a performance from the legendary 80s Latvian band “Dzeltenie pastnieki”.

First on stage this evening will be the duo of guitarist Edgars Rubenis and poet Marija Luīze Meļķe, intertwining guitar play and poetry. The artists describe their creativity as a two-headed animal whose heads – music and poetry – do not interrupt each other but rather intertwine and respect each other, without overwhelming the listener's perception space.

The evening will continue with a performance by the legendary Latvian new wave band “Dzeltenie pastnieki”, whose original creativity and philosophy have left an imprint on the musical and textual thinking of several generations. The band started its activity in 1981 under the leadership of Ingus Baušķenieks and Viesturs Slava. Despite many political obstacles, the band has gained widespread attention with songs like “Milžu Cīņa” (“Battle of Giants”), “Kāpēc Tu Mani Negribi” (“Why Don't You Want Me”), and others. In 2018, the band's latest album “Nepieklājīgā meitene” (“The Rude Girl”) was released, and the concert will feature songs from both the latest album and the repertoire of the 80s and 90s.

Feel free to come to the event hungry and thirsty – the “Wine Shop and Cafe” will be serving wines from the Marche region of Italy and coffee, a pop-up sparkling drinks station will be working on the veranda, and dinner will be prepared by long-favorite street food cafes. This year, “Summer Outside. Summer Together” has several surprises in store, including Latvian pop stage stars, internationally acclaimed jazz, masterful DJs, the traditional Chess Day, and more.
