On July 13th traditional Spain day

On July 13, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the height of summer and the hottest time of the year, we will meet at the Kalnciema Quarter for the traditional Spain Day!

In collaboration with the Embassy of Spain in Latvia, we will celebrate Spanish culture and cuisine at the market on this day. Throughout the day, there will be exotic and passionate flamenco dance performances on stage. The flamenco dance club “Sol Flamenco” will offer visitors the chance to try on and take photos with the colorful dance costumes, fans, canes, and castanets. At the dance club “Alegria”, visitors will not only be able to try on but also purchase dance shoes, skirts, expressive earrings, and other costume elements. Traders will highlight and offer to taste typical dishes of southern countries – the food store “MeGusta.lv” will bring Spanish nuts, olives, tuna, oil, cured meats, various cheeses, chips, and other foods to the market. “Burka and Ledus” will prepare traditional seafood paella for lunch and offer chili pepper plants for purchase.

In the square, there will be a special opportunity to view paintings by Spanish artist Snezana Volineca (IG: @volineca_s) under the title “Spanish Motifs”. Recognizing that the fastest way to get to know another culture is through its language, the Spanish learning center “Centro Picasso” will talk about the opportunity to join Spanish language courses and involve visitors in simple Spanish language-related activities.
