On November 9th, the Market of Heroism

On November 9th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the Kalnciema Quarter will host a Farmers and Artisans Market in a spirit of heroism. At the market, you'll have a unique opportunity to chat with members of the National Armed Forces and the 1st Riga Brigade Student Infantry Battalion of the National Guard, and ask all your burning questions. Craftsmen will prepare themed items for Lāčplēsis Day – natural wax candles, flag-colored brooches and jewelry, traditional-patterned ceramics, wooden boards, warm wool scarves, and alpaca hats. Meanwhile, farmers will ensure that your holiday table is filled with local products – Dzintra will bake pīrāgi, Maija will bring sklandrauši, and Baiba from Z/S Vārpas will bring so many pickles and fermented goodies that it will be enough for the whole neighborhood. Tirgus Brālis will be smoking meat, there will be local goat cheese, Baltic Sea fish, quince syrups, and even wines!

As you prepare for Monday’s march to the Riga Castle walls, the Gardenia Eco from Vecpiebalga will host a natural candle-making workshop by the stage in exchange for donations. We recommend taking this chance to place an intention in your hero candle. Meanwhile, the café, as it does every Saturday, will offer a warm place to enjoy a glass of red wine or a cup of coffee with snacks.
