Otra Puse, Vēstulēs & dzirnavnieki at Kalnciema Quarter
2025.06.13
Feel free to mark June 26th in your festive week calendar – this summer, we’ll experience the second magical concert evening at Kalnciema Quarter together with the legendary local band Otra Puse. The evening will be opened with delicate, romantic, and uplifting tunes by the bands Vēstulēs and dzirnavnieki.
More about the performers:
Otra Puse has been one of the most distinctive voices in Latvian rock and pop music for over 30 years. Their concert will feature both timeless classics and fresh compositions from their 2024 studio album Sākums ("Beginning"). Since their founding in 1992, Otra Puse has released a remix album, the Christmas album Piparkūku sirsniņa ("Gingerbread Heart"), the double album Labākās dziesmas. Notis. Vārdi ("Best Songs. Notes. Lyrics"), as well as Nakts vai rīts ("Night or Morning", 2009) and Uzzīmē mani ("Draw Me", 2013), both of which received the Latvian Grand Music Award for Best Pop Album.
The musical duo Vēstulēs, formed by Marta Krampe and Braiens Martinsons, create melodies like letters – telling stories of life’s subtleties and hopes. Within just a year since their first performance, they have carved out a special place in Latvian music. After a standout debut at Supernova 2024, they’ve performed at Palladium with members of Laika Suns, taken part in the Positivus festival, shared the stage with Shipsea, and created the collaborative song Zeme, kas dzied ("The Land That Sings") with Fiņķis and the Latvian State Academic Choir, led by conductor Māris Sirmais. The song served as the finale for the historic feature film of the same name.
dzirnavnieki aim to tell bright stories through their music, spreading positive emotions and energy to their listeners. The group’s core lineup was formed in early spring 2023 – a time when butterflies and love awaken.
Vocals and lead guitar: Ritvars Lauža
Rhythm guitar and vocals: Kaspars Pizāns
Drums: Edžus Kravalis
Bass: Ivars Janpaulis
Keyboards: Jānis Rūmnieks
The band writes and performs original songs in their native language. This year, they released their debut album Tā nav saule ("That’s Not the Sun") – a collection of nine heartfelt, positively charged original tracks.
See you on June 26th under the summer skies of Kalnciema Quarter!
Entrance from 6:00 PM – free of charge.
