16th of November Independent market

2024.11.05

On November 16th, Kalnciema quarter market will sparkle in red, white, and red—the colors of Latvia's flag. Latvian farmers and artisans will be offering cranberry syrups, rosy sheet cakes, freshly picked red apples, bright peppers, white turnips, and cabbages. More than ten skilled artisans will showcase their crafts, including handmade clay pots, cozy shawls, traditional Latvian brooches, natural beeswax candles, modern amber jewelry, wooden boards, and knitted items with traditional Latvian patterns. Lunch on this day will feature fire-cooked pilaf and snacks in the colors of the national flag.

Meanwhile, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, everyone is invited to a free workshop in the café, where you can learn to make puzuri (a straw ornament symbolizing the universe). The workshop is organized by LeLat, an association that promotes the folk art and intangible cultural heritage of Latvia and Spain.

Entrance is for free.
