Traditional festival Meteni February 3

On February 3 from 10 AM to 4PM at Kalnciema Quarter Market we will celebrate the joyful annual festival of Meteni! With colourful masks and costumes, we will go from vendor to vendor, spend the winter and awaken spring with the folklore group "Savieši" and eat a lot throughout the day so that there is always plenty of food on the table!

Vendors will be preparing and serving a variety of festive dishes - Mada Rīga will be cooking soup on the spot, Dankumu Gardens will be baking pies, Dižraušu Maija will be bringing traditional "sklandrauši", at Zvejnieku seta Dieniņa you will find the widest selection of fish dishes, while smoked, fresh, dried and other meats will be provided by Tirgus brālis, Pūku priedītes and Turaida delicacies. In the gallery, you will be able to try on and buy the magnificent masks of animals from the Latvian forests and homes, made in the ancient papier mache technique by the artist Jevgenija Kiļupe. They will be a special find this festive season and will immediately put you in the festive mood.

At 12.00, the folklore group "Savieši" will invite you to sing and dance.
